Saturday, April 20th, 2002
at the Coral Gables Youth Center
University Drive at LeJeune Road
Noon to 9 pm, plus sleep-over camp out

Scout Out Scouting

Everyone is Invited! Parents and Kids: join boy scouts and girl scouts
in your neighborhood for a day of fun and games
and discover the adventure of scouting.


Activities A number of boy scout and girl scout troops, cub packs, venture posts and explorers will be showing examples of the activities they partcipate in and skills they learn as scouts. There will be plenty of games and fun things to do for boys and girls of all ages, including chariot races, archery competition, knot tieing, signal towers and rope bridges, push carts, outdoor cooking, camp fire skits and songs and a special flag retirement ceremony. The order of the Arrow will present their famous indian dance team. Explorer scouts with the fire department will be demonstrating fire safety. The American Heart Association will be demonstrating CPR techniques. Venture Crews will be onhand to explain about their high-adventure co-ed programs for teens and young adults.
Sleep-Over
Camp Out
All scouts are invited to stay for the Sleep-Over Camp Out Saturday evening at the Youth Center. Scouts with tents will camp on the field, while others with sleeping bags can join the sleep-over inside the gym.

1:00 - the water balloon catapult, American Heart Association CPR class
1:30 - Tug of War
2:00 - Sparky the Fire Dog, antique fire truck, fire hats for kids
2:30 - Fire Engine Ladder Demo
3:00 - Fire Engine Pumper Demo (kids squirt water)
3:30 - Semiphore Flag Signaling Demonstration
3:45 - Bike Medics Demo
4:00 - Police K-9 Demonstration, CPR and First Aid Demo
4:30 - Indian Hand Wrestling
5:30 - 7:30 dinner (camp cooking or concession stand)
7:30 - Campfire show: Indian Drum and Dance Team, Skits
8:30 - Flag Retirement Ceremony: a very special event - don't miss it!
9:00 - End of Scouting Day for the Public; scouts camp on field or in gym
10:00 - lights out!

Sunday Morning
8:00 - rise and shine, pancake breakfast begins
9:00 - Scout's Own service
9:15 - load-out begins, trailers on field
